Avoid hot showers

It is time to stay away from hot showers if you want your hair color last longer. Did you know that hot showers result in rough and dry skin in the long run? Not only that but it will lead to fading of your hair color faster. For the best service, shampoo and rinse your colored hair with room temperature water. Rinse with cold water to seal the hair cuticles and dry with a clean towel. This way, your hair will remain hydrated, looking nice and without split ends.

Avoid frequent wash

Do not use sulfate shampoo

At all cost, avoid the use of sulfate shampoo on your treated hair. Sulfate free shampoos make your hair color look fabulous for much longer. Sulfate contains salts which wash away color and moisture from the hair. The more your hair is moistureless, the more hair color is lost.

Add shower filters

Hard water is known to remove natural oils and hair dyes very fast. If you are in an area with salty water, you must use filters for the sake of your hair. They are known for heavy metals and soap build-ups which mess your hair color.

Use deep conditioners for colored hair

There are conditioners designed specifically for colored hair. This is what should be used. Deep conditioning is important because it nourishes and moisturizes your hair. It leaves it shiny and soft. However, you must make sure to use deep color conditioners to maintain the color of your hair.

Reduce the use of heat tools

Heat is rough on hair colors. Regular hot tool styling, blow drying and flat irons are more likely to ruin your hair color.
